Amundi has expanded its ‘Prime’-branded suite of low-cost core portfolio ETFs with the launch of an emerging markets equity fund.
The Amundi Prime Emerging Markets UCITS ETF (PRAM GY) has been listed on Deutsche Börse Xetra with an expense ratio of just 0.12%.
The fund is linked to the Solactive GBS Emerging Markets Large & Mid Cap USD Index which represents the large and mid-cap segments of the global emerging markets universe.
The index covers approximately 85% of the total market capitalization across 26 countries.
Chinese A-shares are included in the index with an inclusion factor of 20% only if they are eligible for the Stock Connect program.
Constituents are weighted by float-adjusted market capitalization, and the index is reconstituted and rebalanced semi-annually in May and November.
The fund’s low price tag means that it is the cheapest emerging markets equity ETF in Europe. The closest and most notable competitors include the $880 million Lyxor MSCI Emerging Markets (LUX) UCITS ETF (LEMA LN), which comes with an expense ratio of 0.14%; the $1.4 billion HSBC MSCI Emerging Markets UCITS ETF (HMEM LN), which has an expense ratio of 0.15%; and the $18.1bn iShares Core MSCI EM IMI UCITS ETF (EIMI LN), which costs 0.18%.
Matthieu Guignard, Global Head of Product Development and Capital Markets at Amundi, said: “Reflecting the purpose of our Prime ETF range, which is to provide the must-have building blocks for a diversified asset allocation, we are broadening our offering to include emerging markets equities exposure. With this latest addition to our range, we offer investors a competitive solution to access this promising market and incorporate this new essential investment exposure in their allocation.”
Timo Pfeiffer, Chief Markets Officer at Solactive, added: “Our Solactive GBS Emerging Markets Large & Mid Cap USD Index offers logical and cohesive access to emerging markets, which have owned their rightful place in investors’ portfolios for decades now. We are delighted that Amundi have expanded their Prime ETF range with our indices once more, and we are looking forward to jointly enabling investors to further engage with high-quality benchmark offerings.”
