Barclays has teamed up with Elkhorn Capital.

The partnership combines Barclays’ expertise in developing sophisticated investment solutions with Elkhorn’s client insight and distribution network.

“This allows us to offer our clients an expanded range of investment opportunities. We’re enhancing efficiency in product delivery, and matching that with innovation in investment content,” said Fabien Labouret, Global Head of EFS Investment Strategies at Barclays.

Ben Fulton, Elkhorn’s founder and CEO, and formerly Invesco PowerShares’ managing director of global ETFs, added: “We are seeing a greater demand for more custom investment products across a variety of market segments. By partnering with Barclays, we are able to offer clients a range of innovative investment opportunities. We are excited to bring Barclays’ expertise as a complement to our existing partners, including Dorsey Wright & Associates, to provide a unique and leading combination that meets the needs of today’s advisors.”

Barclays have launched a number of innovative index products over the past few years, including: the Roubini Barclays Country Insights Indices, which measures country risks and opportunities via a systematic rules-based approach; the Shiller Barclays CAPE Sector Indices, which have been developed in partnership with Nobel Prize-winning economist Professor Robert Shiller; and the Barclays Women in Leadership Index.

A number ETPs based on Barclays indices are available, such as the Ossiam Shiller Barclays CAPE US Sector Value ETF (traded in USD [UCAP LN] and in GBP [CAPU LN]) and the Ossiam Shiller Barclays CAPE Europe Sector Value ETF (traded in EUR [CAPE LN] and in GBP [LCPE LN]). The Barclays Women in Leadership ETN (WIL) is listed on the NYSE Arca exchange

Elkhorn currently have one ETF available, the Elkhorn S&P 500 Capital Expenditures ETF (CAPX), which is based on an index developed by S&P Dow Jones Indices and listed on the Nasdaq exchange. The ETF is designed to provide exposure to constituents of the S&P 500 that have exhibited strong capital discipline. This is based on the rationale that companies that reinvest resources into the company effectively should see superior future growth.
