BlackRock has introduced 15 new trading lines for iShares products on SIX Swiss Exchange, comprising equity and fixed income exposures.

The new listings – a mix of accumulating, distributing and currency-hedged share classes – expand the range of tools available for Switzerland-based investors.

Two of the listings, the iShares Edge MSCI World Minimum Volatility UCITS ETF CHF Hedged (Acc) and the iShares Global Aggregate Bond UCITS ETF CHF Hedged (Acc), are exclusive to the Swiss market.

The remainder are cross-listings of existing ETF share classes.

The listings are likely in response to specific local demand. It is often the case that major investors will approach ETF issuers with product requests if certain share classes (e.g. accumulating, distributing or currency-hedged) are not available.

Goldenberg Hehmeyer, Société Générale, Commerzbank, Optiver, IMC and Flow Traders are among the market makers providing liquidity to the ETFs.

Demand for ETFs has been growing in Switzerland, reflecting the trend across Europe where they have gathered $23.4bn in net new assets this year (including ETPs; as of February month end).

Following these latest listings, there are now 1342 ETFs listed on the exchange, from 23 different issuers. Franklin Templeton is the newest provider on the exchange, while UBS is the preeminent issuer.
