Global X ETFs has launched four more thematic ETFs on the London Stock Exchange.

The funds look beyond traditional geographic or sector exposures to target companies that are aligned with renewable energy production, clean water, data centres and digital infrastructure, and lithium batteries.

They bring the firm’s total UCITS ETF line-up in Europe to 17, 16 of which fall within a ‘Thematic Growth’ family of ETFs that offer exposure to “long-term, paradigm-shifting themes”.

The new additions are the Global X Renewable Energy Producers UCITS ETF (RNRG LN), the Global X Clean Water UCITS ETF (AQWA LN), the Global X Data Center REITs & Digital Infrastructure UCITS ETF (VPN LN) and the Global X Lithium & Battery Tech UCITS ETF (LITU LN).

Commenting on the rollout, Morgane Delledonne, Director of Research, Europe, Global X, said: “The thematic landscape is rapidly evolving as a greater emphasis on sustainability and clean technology permeates our global consciousness and technological innovation continues at a rapid clip. With these new ETFs, investors have a unique opportunity to capture several structural changes happening around the globe”.

The funds

The Global X Renewable Energy Producers UCITS ETF tracks the Indxx Renewable Energy Producers v2 Index providing access to up to 50 companies exposed to the renewable energy theme. It seeks to invest in companies that generate over 50% of revenues from producing energy from renewable sources including wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal, and biofuels. The fund comes with a total expense ratio (TER) of 0.50%.

The Global X Clean Water UCITS ETF tracks the Solactive Global Clean Water Industry v2 Index, investing in up to 40 companies that are advancing the provision of clean water through industrial water treatment, storage and distribution infrastructure, as well as purification and efficiency strategies – among other activities. It comes with a TER of 0.50%.

The Global X Data Center REITs & Digital Infrastructure UCITS ETF tracks the Solactive Data Center REITs & Digital Infrastructure v2 Index, investing in between 25 and 50 companies or REITs that own and operate data centres, cell towers and other digital infrastructure and hardware that support the growth of digital connective networks such as 5G and cloud computing. It comes with a TER of 0.50%.

The Global X Lithium & Battery Tech UCITS ETF tracks the Solactive Global Lithium v2 Index providing exposure to between 25 and 50 companies involved in the mining and refining of lithium, through to the production of lithium-ion batteries which play an increasingly important role in electric vehicles and renewable energy storage. It comes with a TER of 0.60%.

Global X ETFs was founded in New York in 2008. Globally it offers more than 80 ETFs and overseas in excess of $40 billion in assets under management. It is part of Seoul-headquartered Mirae Asset Financial Group.
