London Stock Exchange sees 14 new ETF listings during April

Fourteen new ETF listings (including share classes) debuted on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) during April 2017, bringing the total number of ETF and ETP listings on the exchange to 905 and 450 respectively.

London Stock Exchange had 14 new ETF listings during April.

Fidelity entered the European ETF market by launching two smart beta ETFs on the exchange. The Fidelity Global Quality Income UCITS ETF (FGQI) and Fidelity US Quality Income UCITS ETF (FUSD) track proprietary in-house indices to provide exposure to high-quality companies with attractive dividend yields within the global and US stock universes respectively. FGQI was launched with a distributing share class while FUSD was launched with both a distributing and an accumulating share class. These were not only Fidelity’s first ETF listings in Europe, but also the firm’s first smart beta listings worldwide.

iShares expanded its offering with nine new listings in the fixed income space. The new listings included accumulated share classes of seven ETFs which track corporate, government and inflation-protected bonds and provide US, emerging market and global exposure, as well as a couple of new funds offing US TIPS and intermediate credit exposure.

VanEck launched the VanEck Vectors JPM EM Local Currency Bond UCITS ETF (EMLC), which offers exposure to the performance of bonds issued in local currency by 16 emerging market governments. Bonds from Brazil, Poland, Indonesia and Mexico have the largest holdings, all having reached their maximum permitted weighting of 10%.

And Deutsche Asset Management launched the Xtrackers Global Government UCITS ETF (XG7S), which offers exposure to government bonds of developed countries.

Total on-exchange value traded for ETFs and other ETPs in April 2017 was £22.5 billion, down by 2% compared to April 2016. Total on-exchange value traded for ETFs and other ETPs year-to-date was £107 billion (1.3m trades), up by 10% compared to 2016.
