Renowned economist Nouriel Roubini has introduced his first ETF, the Atlas America Fund (USAF US), an actively managed multi-asset strategy designed to deliver stable returns across diverse economic and financial market conditions.
The ETF, listed on Nasdaq with an expense ratio of 0.86%, represents a novel approach to navigating macroeconomic uncertainty.
The fund is launched by Atlas Capital Team, a fintech company co-founded by Roubini alongside distinguished economists and senior executives with backgrounds at institutions such as the IMF, World Bank, White House, Goldman Sachs, Capital Group, and BlackRock.
This management team brings a wealth of expertise across technology, fintech, asset management, investment banking, macroeconomics, monetary policy, academia, and international relations.
The launch leverages Goldman Sachs’ ETF Accelerator, a platform enabling efficient ETF creation and management.
Investment Approach
The Atlas America Fund diversifies across US Treasury bonds, gold, REITs, and agricultural commodities—key assets underpinning the American economy and demonstrating resilience in dynamic market conditions.
Its actively managed asset allocation adapts to economic cycles, adjusting based on growth and inflation signals to optimize performance. This strategy aims to provide balanced, risk-adjusted returns by aligning holdings with the prevailing macroeconomic regime.
According to Atlas Capital, the ETF is positioned as an alternative to the fixed income component of a traditional 60/40 portfolio, offering a low volatility investment that is uncorrelated with major equity markets.
Nouriel Roubini, Chief Economist and Co-Founder of Atlas Capital Team, commented: “As the economic environment becomes increasingly volatile, I believe real assets can provide a resilient solution for preserving value. USAF is built to navigate these fluctuations, and with a proactive approach to risk management and growth, it offers investors an effective tool for adapting to the evolving macroeconomic landscape.”
Reza Bundy, CEO and Co-Founder of Atlas Capital Team, added: “The biggest challenges for investors remain access to liquidity and resilient, risk-weighted return on capital. Our goal with USAF is to offer investors a transparent way to access a diversified portfolio that responds to both growth opportunities and inflationary pressures. The launch of USAF represents our commitment to making real asset investments more accessible to a broader audience of investors, allowing them an opportunity to build resilient portfolios aligned with sustainable, long-term growth potential.”
