Toronto Stock Exchange has announced that it has reached a significant milestone with 500 ETFs listed on its exchange. This number has more than doubled in the past five years, bringing the total market capitalization of listed ETFs to approximately $130 billion as of 30 June 2017.
“Reaching 500 ETFs is an incredible milestone both for the Canadian capital markets and TSX,” said Ungad Chadda, president, capital formation, equity capital markets, TMX Group. “We are honoured to support the long list of ETF providers and the investors that benefit from these investment opportunities. As home to the world’s first ETF in 1990, TSX is very pleased to see how the sector has evolved and continues to grow at such an unprecedented pace.”
In the first six months of 2017, Toronto Stock Exchange listed 56 ETFs and welcomed five new providers: AGF Investments, Desjardins Global Asset Management, Excel Funds Management, Franklin Templeton Investments and Manulife Investments.
In total, the exchange is home to 23 providers. The other names are: Auspice Capital Advisors, BMO, First Asset, First Trust Portfolios, Hamilton Capital Partners, Harvest Portfolios Group, Horizons ETFs, iShares by BlackRock, Lysander Funds, Mackenzie Investments, PowerShares Canada, Purpose Investments, Questrade Wealth Management, RBC Global Asset Management, Sphere Investment Management, TD Asset Management, Vanguard Canada, and WisdomTree Canada.
